Group 4 Design Honored to Take Home 3 Awards at the 2021 Design For Living - Aurora Awards!

"​Featuring 61 categories, the Aurora Awards encompasses all facets of the residential, commercial and remodeling industries. From overall design to sustainability, the awards program offers categories for each participant in the construction industry as well as sales and marketing professionals. The Aurora Awards program is affiliated with the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) and the Southeast Building Conference (SEBC), one of two regional trade shows recognized by and affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)."

Group 4 Design was awarded 3 Silver Aurora Award Honors in this year's competition. 

Southern Grounds Avondale

- Silver Aurora Award Honor for Best Commercial Project- under 20,000 sq ft

​An 8,000 sq. ft. renovation of a once dilapidated building found in the middle of a vibrant, historical shopping center. With the guidance and approval of the Historic Preservation Committee we were able to create a modern take on this historical storefront. Comprising of 2 adjacent retail shops, we created a light, energizing and refreshing coffee shop attached to a brand new art gallery. The goal for this coffee shop design was to match the atmosphere with a gathering spot for the community.
It was important to create interior spaces that were relaxed and inviting. Setting the tone for the design, high ceilings and large expanses of storefront were incorporated into the main dining room and bar, allowing natural light to filter in and energize the patrons. Playing off this abundance of light, the design team selected a fresh and airy scheme with carefully placed bright accents that tie in with the brand’s colors. The clean, minimalist design highlighted with punches of refreshing color appeals to locals walking through the Shoppes at Avondale encouraging them to stop in to catch up on neighborhood happenings, which reinforces the client’s goal to have the community gather together.

- Silver Aurora Award Honor for Best Service Enriched Senior Community- IL/ AL/ Memory Care

​Comprising of 148,189 sq. ft, this community of 118 units is split between Assisted Living, Memory Care and Independent Living. There are 2 large courtyards present, providing its members with natural lighting and ample space for daily activities. The architectural design was careful thought out by taking into consideration the needs of the tenants, and the ability to provide a safe and unique building style to encompass the feel of the location around the facility. With almost 20,000 square feet of shared amenity space, this senior living project offers all of the luxuries of a resort hotel while providing the comfortable feeling of a grand southern estate. The interior design takes inspiration from the architectural style of the surrounding neighborhood. A welcoming two-story entry hall overlooking the courtyard, providing a variety of locations for residents to relax and socialize. The design team worked to seamlessly blend traditional detailing with a more transitional overall feel for the community. The client’s goal of achieving a luxurious setting conducive to providing attentive care for both assisted living and memory care residents was successfully achieved thru the design of the project.
